How to maintain the diesel generator set starting battery?
How to maintain the diesel generator set starting battery? Today, let’s talk about this topic. First of all, we all know that the starting of industrial diesel generator sets usually depends on starting the battery. In fact, this is similar to our normal car starting, which is also started by the battery.
If the battery has not been used for a long time, it needs to be properly charged before use, so as to ensure the normal use capacity of the battery.
Usually, the technician will evaporate some of the water in the battery during normal operation and charging. Therefore, it is necessary to refill the battery of the unit from time to time. The first step before refilling is to clean the dirt around the filling port to prevent the dirt from falling into it. Then open the filling port and add an appropriate amount of distilled water or pure water, but do not add too much, otherwise, when the battery is discharged/charged, the electrolyte inside the diesel engine will flow from the overflow hole of the filling port. Gushing out, causing corrosion damage to surrounding objects and the environment.
Tips for diesel generator battery maintenance:
First, check whether the battery is charged normally. If you have a three-way meter, after starting the engine, measure the voltage of the two poles of the battery, it must be more than 13V to be considered normal. If you find that the charging voltage is too low, you need to ask a professional to overhaul the charging system.
Second, use a damp cloth to wipe the outside of the battery, and wipe off the dust, oil, white powder, etc. on the panel and pile head that may cause leakage. In this way, the battery is often scrubbed, and the pile head of the battery will not accumulate white acid-etched powder, and its service life will be longer.
Third, open the battery water cap to see if the water level is in the normal position. Generally, there will be upper and lower limit lines on the side of the battery for your reference. If it is found that the water level is lower than the subscript line, distilled water must be added. If the distilled water is not available at once, you can use filtered tap water as an emergency. Do not add too much water, the standard is to add to the middle of the upper and lower lines.
